I'm partial to this show, in part because I was there but also because repeated listenings have unearthed some fine solos by Jerry: They Love Each Other and El Paso. In this last tune, they'd just opened up a larger slot for Jerry to solo and he just soars. The Shakedown also has a nice jam and a nice transition to Minglewood (thanks to Brett).

Who needs a SBD when you got a Aud recording like this! Easily the best of all the uploaded versions available (IMHO), including the lone SBD uploaded here, which is only a second set upload).
Solid show, nothing that’s going to make a top 10 list or anything like that. Just the band delivering the goods to their fans on this Friday the 13th 42 years ago.
Of note is the 1st set Minglewood, High Time, Cassidy and Althea, which just has such feel and heart. The band’s feeling the crowd and the crowd is feeling the band.
Three of my college buddies had parents who were old school heads, who took them to this show. Though they were only 10 at the time they all had memories to last a lifetime. Couldn’t think of a greater entrance into a lifetime appreciation of this band. The energy in Utica on that Friday night is quite palpable and lives on through to your ears and into the heart of your mind!

excellent audience recording, this is a good show...strong second set not too big on jams, but performance is tight, one of the best versions of It Must Have Been the Roses in the 80s...

Excellent recording.
The first set is mostly nothing special and a little rough, though something starts to shift somewhere around Althea.
After "Everybody take a step back", everybody starts breathing better. Everything from Eyes on is some of the most sublime, unbelievable jamming you can hear the Dead do.
